The Sustainable Soils Program funding is available for farmers, grower groups and local landcare organisations to establish trials, demonstration sites and other learning activities with the aim of improving soil health. Farmers and groups within the SWCC broadacre agricultural reigon are encouraged to apply with Round 2 grants from $5,000 – $25,000 available.
Successful projects will target practices that reduce the risk of wind and water erosion, soil acidification, or a decline in soil carbon.
Sharing of knowledge gained with other local farmers will also be a central part of the successful projects, through activties such as workshops, field days, paddock walks, case studies and bus trips.
SWCC will be partnering with local landcare officers and grower group representatives to assist with developement and delivery of successfully-funded projects. Specialist technical advice will also be available to help with site design, establishment, monitoring and ongoing management.
