Local environmental groups are coming together under the Landcare Tent at this year’s Balingup Small Farm Field Day. The event has the theme of Living Safely in the Country, on the 21st April and will provide a huge array of great information for property owners big and small; with people in the know available to take your questions have a chat with you about your property and all things environmental.
This year the South West Catchments Council’s Regional Landcare Facilitator, Kate Scott will be joined by local groups including; Blackwood Valley Small Landholders Group, Australian Forest Growers, Land for Wildlife and Blackwood Waterwatch. In addition to these groups there will also be information displays available from the Donnybrook Balingup Shire which all together will provide a great collection of knowledge and information available for landholders.
At last years’ Balingup Small Farm Field day I was so surprised at the number of small landholders who had no idea of the support and information services available to them.
It’s a great opportunity for us to make those landholders aware that we are here, and we’re here to help!” said Kate, SWCC’s Regional Landcare Facilitator.
So if you would like information on;
SWCC are also offering free soil sampling to test pH, salinity and soil texture to help landholders get the most out of their soils. Advice will also be available on how to take soil samples and how to interpret soil results.
Please come along and to have a chat with one of the Landcare team, we will be located on the corner of Cow Crossing and Pig Promenade next to the Department of Environment and Conservation.
This project is supported by the South West Catchments Council, through funding from the Australian Government’s Caring for our Country and the Government of Western Australia.
