About Us

What is the South West Catchments Council (SWCC)?

The South West Catchments Council (SWCC) is a community organisation, recognised as the regional Natural Resource Management (NRM) body for the South West NRM Region of WA. As such, SWCC is allocated regional funding provided by the Australian Government’s Caring for our Country and the Government of Western Australia’s State NRM Program to better protect and restore our important environmental assets.

In this role SWCC coordinates community-based NRM across the region, working closely with and supporting a broad spectrum of community groups. SWCC delivers a range of on-ground and strategic projects that improve the resilience of the many and important natural assets of our diverse and unique region.

The South West NRM Region is made up of six main catchments that are managed by local community-based catchment groups – we like to think of these groups as part of our NRM Family all working together to care for the south west. These groups nominate community members as representatives that form the membership of the South West Catchments Council and together with SWCC deliver on-ground NRM projects.

Currently, SWCC has 31 staff members spread amongst five offices throughout the South West Region.
