Glimpses into disappearing landscapes

SWCC, in partnership with DEC, is excited to release its latest publication ‘Glimpses into disappearing landscapes. Nationally Listed Threatened Ecological Communities of the South West Region’.

The South West Region is home to several amazing Threatened Ecological Communities – natural communities that exist here and nowhere else in the world! It became apparent to our team that the general community wasn’t aware of the presence of these communities or their significance in our environment. If we are to protect these special assets, we need to improve the awareness and understanding of the general community – and that means cutting out the scientific jargon.

They say a picture paints a thousand words and that is the approach we took with this booklet. We engaged professional photographer Tim Swallow to visually capture the uniqueness of each of the communities and combined these images with easy to read and informative text to convey just how special these places really are.
