Greater Bunbury TEC’s

Department of Environment and Conservation managing Endangered Threatened Ecological Communities (TEC’s)

This project forms part of our efforts to support the Department of Environment and Conservation’s (DEC) work in protecting endangered Threatened Ecological Communities (TEC). This project enables DEC to continue its long-standing efforts in managing critical threats to three Swan Coastal Plain TEC occurrences within the Greater Bunbury Region. Works include:

  • Dieback control – aerial phosphite spraying to continue control of dieback (Phytophthora cinnamomi)
  • Fencing – to control access to TECs
  • Rabbit control – including 1080 baiting and exclusion fencing to protect the TECs from rabbits
  • Weed control – controlling weeds including African lovegrass, Bridal creeper, Watsonia, Babiana, giant Reed, and various grass species
  • Rehabilitation – planting of native species following weed control.
