Serpentine-Jarrahdale TEC’s

Serpentine-Jarrahdale Shire managing an Endangered Threatened Ecological Community (TEC)

This project forms part of our efforts to support the Serptentine Jarrahdale Shire’s Environmental Team in tackling the threats to an important ecological community within their Shire.  Works undertaken include:

  • Weed control – controlling weeds including Watsonia, Gladioli, African lovegrass, Casurina glauca
  • Rabbit & fox control – including baiting and exlusion fencing to reduce grazing pressures on native grasses and reduce fox predation on native animal populations
  • Seed collection – collection of seed from the TEC which are then prepared using aerosol smoke and hot water pre-treatments.
  • Revegetation - revegetate the area following weed control, utilising local volunteers for direct seeding.
