Our Sustainable Agriculture Program promotes and supports the adoption of sustainable farming practices. Our current program, which is working towards targets identified in the Australian Government’s 2009-10 Caring for our Country Business Plan, is focused on improving groundcover and reducing the risk of wind erosion in the SWCC’s broadacre agricultural zone, and increasing the skills and knowledge of farmers in relation to sustainable farming practices.
Through the project, we are supporting farmers to implement a range of on-ground actions on their properties to improve ground cover, such as perennial pastures and revegetation. We have also been working with various partners to deliver workshops and field days looking at various aspects of sustainable agriculture and groundcover management.
The current program runs until September 2011.
