Our Sustainable Agriculture Program is funding a soil amelioration field trial in 2011. This project involves a series of field trials based in the Katanning area and is looking at the effects of substituting 50% of the usual basal fertiliser rate with a concentrated compost product across a variety of cereal crops.
An initial workshop was held in March 2011 to provide an overview of the project and a follow-up workshop, in Katanning, is planned for mid-September to analyse and interpret the results from the field trials, and discuss the implications of incorporating the practise into farming systems.
If you are interested in finding out more about these trials, or would like to register your interest in conducting an innovative field trial in 2012, please contact Rebecca Walker on 9881 0202.
