140 scholarships to enhance good governance in Australia’s not-for-profit sector

The Australian Institute of Company Directors is for the first time offering 140 scholarships to directors and executives of small not-for-profit organisations.
This range of exciting new AICD-funded scholarships will see 20 NFP leaders in each state and territory choose from a range of governance and leadership courses.

The NFP Scholarship program is the first of its kind and will give NFP directors and executives the opportunity to develop their skills and capabilities to be the leaders of the future.

AICD Chairman Elizabeth Proust AO said that the AICD is proud of the work it does in Australia’s vital NFP sector.

“More than 600,000 not-for-profits operate in Australia, and charities alone employ over one million people and contribute in excess of $134 billion to the economy,” she said.

“The not-profit sector impacts the lives of millions of Australians, and thus the governance knowledge of its future leaders is of utmost importance.

“In the face of increasing complexity and demand on not-for-profits, good governance has never been more important for the sector.

“The NFP sector continues to be a major focus for the Institute, and these new scholarships underscore our commitment to supporting the directors of smaller not-for-profits.”

Applications for the AICD Not-for-Profit Scholarships program are now open and close on Friday 28 July 2017.

Scholarship applicants must be directors or senior managers of NFP organisations who would otherwise be unable to attend governance education programs due to financial constraints.

Full scholarships will be awarded to directors or senior managers of NFP organisations with a turnover below $1 million. Half fee scholarships will be awarded to successful applicants from NFP organisations with turnover between $1 million and $5 million.
