Property Planning

Presented by: Jenny Dewing – Property Owner; Ex-Volunteer Brigade Captain; Founder of the Blackwood Valley Small Landowners Group

Climate change is leading to more days with severe fire danger weather. This workshop will lead you through the threats (fire behaviour, effects of landscape and fuel loads, livestock management
in bushfires), your assets (water, pumps, equipment, low fuel areas, pasture management, Fire Protection Zone around your home, developing bushfire management skills) and other important information (making sense of fire regulations; movement bans etc.)

Seasonal Preparation

Presented by Chris Sousa – Head of Emergency Services – Shire of Bridgetown-Greenbushes

Seasonal preparation is based on breaking the fire triangle and controlling heat transfer. So the workshop will cover fuel load control, legal responsibilities, developing a fire plan, understanding the work of fire-fighters and how to assist them, and mopping up after a fire and identifying dangerous trees.

RSVP by 27 August to Adrian Williams [email protected] or 0427 086 299.
