10 October, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Join Nature Conservation Margaret River Region for a free, informative and practical two-hour workshop exploring how to make successful water-wise wicking beds, with options for all backyards and all budgets!
Date: 10am – 12pm, Sunday 10 October 2021
Venue: Margaret River Regional Environment Centre Inc., Margaret River
Discover a self-contained, raised-bed food growing solution – whether you’re renting, have limited space, have grass or trees competing with your garden, or if you are just tired of constant watering!
This workshop will be held at the Margaret River Community Garden and facilitated by Laura Bailey from Margaret River Organic Farmer, who has been experimenting with wicking beds for years. Nature Conservation Margaret River Region staff will also be on-hand to answer your questions about water-wise, verge and native gardens.
The workshop will include an hour of theory at the Margaret River Community Garden hall followed by a practical session covering construction of a barrel wicking bed.
Participants must wear close-toed shoes, weather appropriate clothing, and bring a hat and full water bottle. This event is intended for adults as the workshop includes a one-hour theory session, unsuitable for young children.
The workshop is the latest in a series of events as part of the For Nature Landowner Stewardship Program, designed to help you give nature a hand at your place. Registering is free and comes with loads of benefits for locals, like grants for conservation work at your place, free equipment hire and practical guides and resources online.
