Review of the Western Australian Aboriginal Heritage Act 1972

The WA division of the EIANZ is pleased to have this opportunity to provide feedback to the WA Government on its consultation paper; the first of a three-phase public consultation process that will ultimately lead to the introduction of new Aboriginal heritage legislation into the Western Australia Parliament.

A review of the Aboriginal Heritage Act is welcomed by EIANZ as the current legislation is over 45 years old, and is a vital step in ensuring that our unique Aboriginal cultural heritage continues to be protected for current and future generations.

The Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage has scheduled 30 culturally appropriate workshops My Heritage, My Voice designed for Aboriginal people, as well as 10 workshops for all other stakeholders Working with Our Aboriginal Heritage in Perth and key regional locations.

Further details on workshop dates and locations are listed on the Department’s website, click here for more information.
